FREE GUIDE · 7 ITALIAN DINNERS

This week, nobody has to ask what's for dinner.

Seven real Italian dinners from my mother’s kitchen. One for every night of the week, in the order I’d cook them, with a single shopping list for all seven.

Here's your week

MONDAY — Meatballs in tomato sauce
TUESDAY — Spaghetti carbonara
WEDNESDAY — Chickpea and kale soup
THURSDAY — Pasta and beans
FRIDAY — Eggplant parmigiana
SATURDAY — Chicken cacciatore
SUNDAY — Chickpea and tuna salad

The carbonara is the real one — no cream, ever. And Sunday doesn’t ask you to turn on the stove at all. Cook them in this order, or move them around: the only fixed part is that you don’t have to think about it.

Who this is for

This is for you if dinner is on you most nights — whether that’s two people or five, whether you love cooking or you’re done with it.

It’s not for you if you already plan your week and enjoy doing it. You don’t need me.

You've saved hundreds of recipes. You still don't know what's for dinner.

It’s 6:40. You’ve been standing with the fridge door open for a while now. There’s food in there — there’s always food in there — but nothing that becomes dinner without someone deciding, and you’ve been the one deciding since this morning. What to answer. What to reschedule. What to pick up. What can wait until tomorrow.

So dinner ends up being whatever goes from the freezer to the oven, or whatever arrives at the door. Nobody complains. It’s just not what you would have chosen, if choosing were easy at 6:40 on a Thursday.

Here’s what nobody says out loud: the problem was never the cooking. You can cook. The problem is that the decision is always yours, every single night, and it lands at the hour of the day when you’re least able to make it.

My mother never stood in front of the fridge like that. Not because she was a better cook than you are — because Tuesday had already been decided, and it had been decided on Saturday.

So this isn’t a collection of recipes. It’s a week. Seven dinners, in the order I’d cook them, with one shopping list for all of them. The bigger ones sit early in the week. The ten-minute one sits on Sunday.

I'm Celeste, and I'm Italian.

I grew up in a kitchen where “what’s for dinner?” was never a question. My mother put dinner on the table for the four of us every single night, for the twenty-six years I lived at home, and she was never in a rush about it. She had simply decided it once, on Saturday, when she worked out the shopping too — and then she never had to think about it again.

These are some of her dinners: seven recipes, written down, in American measurements, with nothing in them you can’t find at your regular grocery store.

Start with Monday.

Then don’t decide anything until Sunday. Buy once, cook them in the order they’re written, and see what a week feels like when the thinking is already done. That’s the whole idea.
